Rosamond Tourism
Many travelers pass right by Rosamond on their way to Mammoth Lakes to the northeast, or maybe Bakersfield to the northwest. Or maybe they're even going to the world's first Space Port in Mojave. But Rosamond has a diverse offering of attractions for tourists of all ages and persuasions.
The community of Rosamond is located in the southeast corner of Kern County, California. Just over the Los Angeles County line (Avenue A), - Rosamond covers an area of 52.2 square miles. It lies about 85 miles from Bakersfield, the county seat.
The area is home to well known attractions such as the:
Diamond Jim's Casino and Restaurant holds daily tournaments as well as special events.
EFBC's - Exotic Feline Cat Compound.
70+ feline residents include 17 species: tiger, jaguar, fishing cat, serval, pallas' cat, caracal, ocelot, bobcat, Eurasian lynx, Canada lynx, Geoffroy's cat, margay, jaguarundi, jungle cat, cougar, clouded leopard, and 4 subspecies of leopards.Also, a tour not to miss, is the Air Force Flight Test Center Museum, a windshield tour of the Edwards flightline and a tour of NASA Dryden Flight Research Center, located east of Rosamond on Edwards Air Force base.
It's an all-day event open to guests of all ages! The Air Force Flight Test Center Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for federal holidays and certain special events. You should contact the base to schedule a tour.
Rosamond holds seasonal events such as the Christmas "Parade of Lights" in early December,
and the William M. Ketchum Armed Forces Appreciation Day Parade and Septemberfest in September.
Car enthusiasts are sure to enjoy the oft held 'old' car competition and show at Rosamonds own Fosters Freeze.
Or, if you prefer horse power of another kind - the SKRRC - Southern Kern Roping and Riding Club holds events here at the Rosamond Arena as well as across the state.
